worshipers of the light find comfort and advice.
The Paladin has special abilities and spells. Some of these
are automatic; they occur from the natural radiant goodness of the Paladin.
Thus, the Paladin can Sense Danger whenever it is present in the area. Other
abilities are more like spells, and must be consciously summoned from within by
the Paladin's wishes.
As a Paladin attains Honour, he gains new
abilities by his good nature. Paladin spells do not draw upon magical ability.
Instead, they use the Paladin's natural energy, thus drawing upon Stamina points
(rather than mana points) to charge the spell.
Becoming a
Paladin is a reward that is bestowed upon (normally) a fighter class Hero who
performs noble acts of honor, compassion and kindness. A Hero who goes out of
his way to help others and specifically avoids being dishonest will be rewarded
with the title of 'Paladin'. Paladins live by their honor and constantly try to
bring out the greatest good for all in any situation. Sometimes the path of a
Paladin is lonely because they must make decisions based on what they believe to
be right, and not the prejudice of everybody else. Paladins are un-egotistical
and they show their generosity to anyone in need, even if that person is
undesirable and rude. They possess all the qualities of an ideal Hero. Paladins
can gain unique spells and abilities depending on how much honor they have.
However, the struggle of being a true Paladin is difficult to say the least, and
any acts of dishonesty or cruelty will strip a Paladin of his honor and thus
cause him to lose his abilities and spells. A Paladin would willingly sacrifice
his own life so that another may live. There is no greater act that a Paladin
could do.
